Foot of the Barrel’s comedy nights are going from strength to strength, and in July we had our biggest name yet in the form of Paul Sinha.
You’ll know Paul from his stints on ITV quiz show The Chase, but he brought the house down with his acerbic, observant and achingly funny show ‘Shout out to my ex’ at a packed North’s at the Coach House.
Paul gave us a peek into what it’s like to be not only the only openly-gay British Asian qualified doctor and television quizzer on the UK comedy circuit, but he also let us into the perils of dabbing at 47, how he’s at odds with another high-profile comic and just who is the thickest celebrity ever to appear on The Chase (think political journalism – and Strictly Come Dancing…)
Rachel Fairburn, Daniel Triscott & Lukas Kirby gave top drawer support earlier in the evening, compered by Anthony J Brown, with Paul then warming up nicely for his upcoming stint at the Edinburgh Fringe. He was on for well over an hour to leave the sell-out crowd grateful at his career move – “I saved over 5,000 lives – when I stopped being a GP…”
