Comedy was back on the menu again in Brighouse at the start of March, when rising star Lee Kyle brought his sideways view of life, the universe and everything to Prego café bar and restaurant.
The waterfront venue, which is hosting monthly comedy nights throughout the year, played host to Lee’s unique observations which have graced the Edinburgh fringe festival, Radio 4’s History of Geordie Comedy and even CBBC!
Lee also introduced friend Sammy Dobson, who warmed the audience up with an entertaining look into her life, including a kind-of bucket list of ‘30 things to do in 30 days before you turn 30’. Sammy also hails from the north-east, like Lee, and the weekly ‘Which is the best’ podcast, where they veer off on tangent after tangent, is essential listening.
As for Lee himself, who also reminded us of Sammy’s appearances in ‘Byker Grove’ and an advert with Peter Andre, he mused on what he used to find floating in cheap beer, his career as a professional wrestler, how people walk like Liam Gallagher in art galleries, his irrational hatred of coffee and much more.
If you still like Lilt and remember Sunkist, or if you’ve ever wondered why Mickey Mouse fell for a girl who looked exactly like him, then Lee’s look at the world is just for you! Throw in some musical interludes and interruptions from Lee’s conscience, and you’ve got a comedian who we are set to hear a lot more from in the future.
